Our own little celebration

Before we headed out of town to visit our families, we spent a day enjoying the Christmas holiday with just the 3 of us.  The day started with a special Christmas breakfast; Christmas tree french toast...
Here's a close-up.  I'm just a little proud of my creation...

We all headed to Main Event to enjoy some family bowling and glow golf.  Here's Jake with his ball....he's quite the bowler, even though this shot makes his ball look gigantic...
After eating at a favorite of Jake's, Double Dave's, and heading home for a little afternoon rest, we opened presents.  Here's Jake's big present, although it doesn't look too big in the picture.  We decided to surprise him with a swing set for the backyard.  I think it's great timing before the baby comes to have something to keep him entertained outside without us always having to go into the front.  Now, it's just a matter of both the weather and Kevin's schedule cooperating so it can be built...
We all love looking at Christmas lights, so after dinner we loaded up to see all the wonderful displays.  We're fortunate to have many great ones nearby.  It was a really nice night, and we got out of the car several times to get a better look at all the decor.  Here's Jake  in front of a couple displays.  These are examples of his goofy grin while trying desparately to keep his eyes open.  His eyes are SUPER sensitive to the camera flash, so it's really hard to capture a good picture of him if the lighting requires a flash.  He's a trooper and does his best to keep them open...

Finally, Jake and Daddy.  It was a wonderful, fun family day and a great way to start of our Christmas celebrations!
