7 Months

Luke turned 7 months old on the 13th.  Here's some things about our big boy...
*He's now getting on all fours and rocking back and forth, so he seems just on the verge of crawling.
*He is a Mama's boy for sure.  When he sees me, he usually wants me.  Fortunately, however, he hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety.  He's always fine to be left, and I always get reports of what a happy boy he is while I'm gone.
*He continues to have some issues transitioning to solid foods, but we're making progress.  He seems to be an independent eater.  When we try to spoon feed him, he almost always reaches for the spoon to hold onto it (one big reason feeding him is so difficult).  He also loves feeding himself puffs.
*Day time sleep is finally getting more predictable and manageable.  He's finally regularly taking 2 naps a day!
*He loves Jake, and laughs and smiles the most for him
*He's obsessed with the remote control.  If he sees it, he lunges for it.
*He loves attention.  He can go about 10 minutes tops playing on his own before he wants someone to either pick him up or interact with him.
*He loves to be on his feet, so much so he doesn't peacefully sit on my lap.  He'll sit for a few minutes then lunge himself backward, grab my arm to twist around, then make his way to the standing position.  Needless to say, it can be exhausting to hold him for a long time, but it's worth it!

Here are the pics I took for 7 months.  I did make a "7 month" sign, but it didn't last 5 seconds before he scrunched it up and put it in his mouth!

We finally brought out the exesaucer the day he turned 7 months.  I was procrastinating taking it out of the garage to wash and disinfect it, but I finally got it out.  He loves to stand on his feet

Aledo

The day after Halloween, the boys and I headed for a trip to visit Papa and Grandmama.  We had great weather and were spoiled with lots of treats as always.  Jake got a chance to do some driving in his 4-wheeler...
Luke got an extra special napping spot...
We all took a drive around the TCU campus and checked out their new football stadium.  It was very beautiful, but just made me think about how awesome I hope Baylor's is next season!  Thanks for all the yummy food and love, Papa and Grandmama!

Halloween 2013

This year Jake wanted to be a policeman for Halloween.  Since it won't be too long before Luke has his own opinion about his costume, we used Jake's idea for a family themed Halloween.  The Tuesday before Halloween, Jake got to dress up for school, so here is our policeman at school waiting to parade around...
and a policeman just isn't doing his duty unless he's caught at least one bad guy...
On Halloween night, even Mommy and Daddy joined in on the fun.  Jake and I were the police officers, and we captured some pretty handsome bad guys...

Halloween night was a little rough on Luke.  He was ready for bed exceptionally early, so his night was short-lived.  Unfortunately, this meant we didn't get a great pic of the boys.  We did get a funny one, however.  I guess it's not too fun to be taken off to jail...

We went to 5 of our closest neighbors' houses, then Jake looked in his basket and said, "I have a lot of candy, I'm done."  Jake isn't too big into trick-or-treating, but he is excellent at giving out the candy for other kids.  He loved this job and I'm glad he was happy!

Pumpkin Time

It's become our tradition to carve our pumpkin the weekend before Halloween, so that's what we did.  Jake did the design all by himself and Kevin did the carving.  Luke put his hand down inside to feel the guts, but quickly tired of everything and was ready for bed.
 Here's the final product...

More Fall Fun

We're so fortunate to live in an area where there is always fun things for us to do.  A friend told me about a free fall festival at a nearby church happening the Saturday before Halloween, so we decided to check it out.  It was really great, and the boys had a lot of fun.  Here's Luke enjoying the fun from his stroller view...
There was a petting zoo, and Jake picked up a chicken!
He also got to pet a pig.  Unfortunately, we only got the rear view on film...
Jake even got his face painted which he usually doesn't want to do...
 He decided on ghosts...

There was also a hayride, lots of free food, a trunk or treat, and lots of carnival games, but Jake's favorite part of all was their playground!

A Visit from Caley

Jake's class at preschool is the puma's and their mascot is a cute little puma named Caley.  Caley get the chance to visit the homes of all the students, and a couple weeks ago Jake got to bring her home with us.  We enjoyed the warm beautiful weather and went on a walk to the park...

Caley also came along to a fall festival at a nearby church.  It was a fun weekend with a special school friend!

Fall Fun

A few weeks back, we had the chance to go Sweetberry Farms for the first time in the fall on a Friday as a whole family!  It was an unexpected, spur of the moment trip that resulted in a great day together.  We took a ton of pictures, so I'll just let the pictures do the talking.  I have to add that we went to the Blubonnet Cafe for brunch/lunch before heading to Sweetberry, and it was AWESOME!  I absolutely love homecooking, small town style, and the yummy pies make it even better.  Here's our pics from the day...
