Kinder graduation

Jake's kinder graduation celebration was the week before school let out.  It was a lot of fun to see the kids in their gowns, and especially to watch them sing.  Here's Mrs. Haug's Turtle class of 2014-15...

Celebrate

Last month, my parents were in town for Jake's kindergarten graduation and we were able to celebrate both his graduation and my mom's birthday.  My parents spoiled us with a dinner at Kobe, where we all enjoyed a fun and yummy meal.  Here's our very entertaining chef...

Sweetberry

We've made a tradition to pick strawberries at Sweetberry farms each spring, and this year was no exception.  Starting off feeding the goats and visiting horses is always a hit...

We started off picking blackberries.  Both boys were awesome pickers....until Luke stepped in a fire ant pile.  That moment ended his picking, but he was a trooper!

Jake and I picked strawberries for the family since Luke was done, and it was hard work!  Here's one of the final pictures.  Jake looking deservedly tired from picking, and Luke happy from all that extra goat time....
A visit to Sweetberry isn't complete without some homemade strawberry popsicles for the boys (and homemade strawberry ice cream for Mommy)...

SPARTAN

For the past 3 years, Kevin has competed in Spartan races to help him get in shape and to have fun with his friends.  With Kevin training and telling us about the race and obstacles, Jake was immediately excited.  Around race time, Jake would pretend to race in the house with pillow obstacles, and he has told us he wished he could run a race.  Well, this year, we surprised him with the chance to run in his very own Spartan kids race.  He was super excited!  So, Kevin and Jake, along with our good friends, Joe and Ryan headed out for the kids to race.  Here are Ryan and Jake before the race...
Here they are showing off their Spartan faces...
It has been raining A LOT in Texas the last couple months, and the weekend of the race was no exception.  The race always has muddy obstacles, but the ground was pretty wet all over.  Luckily, the weather was great for their race, but Jake did slip in the mud before the race began so things were off to a muddy start before he even began...
 At the starting line...
Warming up before the race began...
 And they're off!

Jake did great, and most importantly, had so much fun!!!!  He's already talking about when he can run his next race!  Now we have two Spartans in the house...

Art Show

Jake really loves art.  When he's not playing with a ball in the house (that's still #1 for him), his next go-to activity is to draw, write and create at the table with paper, scissors, glue, crayons, etc.  We were very excited to find out one of his pieces from school was selected to be shown at the 2015 Leander ISD Art Show. Here's Jake with his piece...
Jake and his art teacher, Ms. Stobaugh...
It was really quite an honor to be selected.  The show was held at Rouse High School and represented pieces of art from every school in the district.  It seemed that about 3 students from each class were selected, and Jake was one of those.  Here's a view of the Naumann Elementary table...

Father Son campout

One of the many awesome things about our church is that it provides unique opportunities for families to bond together in different ways.  Kevin and Jake got to experience one of those unique opportunities on the Father/Son campout.  They definitely had a great time, and it was an experience unlike any camping experience we could have done on our own.  First of all, the camping area was a little more in the wilderness than what Mommy would have liked...

The guys got to enjoy some great camp food, and hang out with great friends...
Jake tried archery for the first time...
 and got a bullseye!!!

They offered ziplining, which Jake wasn't interested in, but he was interested in something called "Screamer."  Look at our brave boy getting ready for Screamer...

 and there he goes...
Kevin and Jake came back exhausted, but also excited about all the cool things they got to experience.  It was definitely a great time for all the guys!
