Christmas Day 2010

Unfortunately, Christmas Day began with a bit of a grumpy start. It looked a little like this... Jake was starting to come down with a terrible cold which unfortunately turned to fever by Christmas night. Luckily, there was no fever in the morning, but it took a little coaxing for Jake to come out to find what Santa had brought. So far, he's still not so sure he should have gotten out of bed...
Hey! Maybe getting out of bed was worth it. It was funny to watch him look at all his gifts which were mostly chacters from his favorite movies/shows: Mr Potato Head from Toy Story, Mater, Luigi and Guido from Cars, a smaller, more portable Mickey Mouse, and Nemo. He went first to Mickey...
Then went to Nemo. This was no surprise to us since he has asked to watch either Mickey or Nemo EVERY day for at least the last month...
His "big" Santa gift was a DVD player for the car. This, of course, was not at all appreciated until several days later when it got it's first use. Santa sure knows what both Jake and Mommy need for those long car trips to the grandparents ;-) Here's Jake unloading his stocking...

After checking out Santa's goodies and eating breakfast, we headed to Plano to hang out with Chad, Cassy, Cohen and Channing. The boys loved hanging out once again. The joy of being around his older cousin let Jake do his best to forget about his yucky cold and be in mostly a good mood. Here they are getting a little fuel before the present opening begins...
Although we attempted to take lots of pictures, hardly any came out good due to the constant movement of an 1, almost 2, and 3 1/2 year-olds. I did capture this one of all the kids looking at Channing's new book. I think it's really cute, plus it reminds me that pretty soon Chad and Cassy will have 3 little ones all their own!
We left Allen and headed back to Gainesville for the annual Barr Family Christmas party. This event is always a lot of fun because it's the only time when Kevin's aunts, uncles, and cousins all get together, and we always play some fun and creative games. This year, I didn't get one single picture mostly due to our poor little boy who started burning up and stayed curled up in laps the entire night. We did compete in a family version of Christmas Minute to Win It, but unfortunately the Lawson fam didn't rise to victory. Although we didn't take the win, it was really great to be together and catch up with everyone.
