Stop 3: Shreveport

Shreveport was our next stop to visit one of my best friends in college, Carrie.  Carrie was a great hostess to us and we had a wonderful time.  She took us to Sci-Port Discovery Center where the boys had lots of fun learning new and different things.  Carrie is a high school English teacher, and she's very gifted at her job, so making learning fun for kids comes naturally to her...

She also took us swimming at her family's swimming pool with this lovely view...
Can you imagine waking up to that in your backyard everyday?  Pretty awesome!  The boys definitely loved it!

Leg 3

It was hard to say good-bye to the beach after such a wonderful time, but with places to go and people to see, we headed off to our next stop: Shreveport.  Since we weren't able to stop at the Alabama state line on our way into the state, we decided to we needed to on our way out.  Luke was NOT happy about that idea, and really resisted our fun family photo...

He was a little happier about it with Daddy in the picture.  Shreveport, here we come!

Town time

What's something else you do on a beach vacation?  Go into "town" for souvenir shopping and good food to eat!  Taking a family photo in the shark's mouth seemed to be a requirement...

 And under the purple octopus...
We were told by several people we needed to try the Original Oyster House, so we checked it out for dinner one night.  Here are the boys about to be cooked up...

Waiting by the bay for our table...

We ordered crab claws for an appetizer, and Luke surprisingly LOVED them!  It didn't hurt that he was pretty hungry after the wait...

He liked them even more than Jake, but Jake liked playing with the claws...

Pool time

What's the 2nd best thing to do on a beach vacation?  Go to the pool, of course!  Both boys LOVE swimming in the pool.

Jake liked Daddy to throw him high in the air...
To the front of our condo was the beach and on the backside was the bay, so one day we took a break for our swimming at the pool to eat our snack by the bay...
Our patio overlooked the pool so the boys enjoyed being out on the patio and seeing what was going on below...

Beach time

We were on a beach vacation, so where did we spend a lot of time?  On the beach, of course!  Here are the boys ready to go on our first morning.  Jake with his new boogie board...

 Luke is checking it out...
 Sand castle village...
Luke had to learn to love the waves and ocean water, but he immediately loved the sand!

It's always fun to do some burying...

 Handsome beach boys...

A couple nights we went had some evening beach time.  The weather felt great and it was nice to see the moon above us.  Jake and I competed in a beach scavenger hunt one night, and we went on a flashlight walk the other night...
