Field Day 2015

Jake had his first ever field day a couple weeks ago, and had so much fun!  Kevin and I were both excited for Jake to enjoy this special day, so Kevin took the morning off, and all 4 of us were able to go and enjoy the fun!  I signed up to work a station, so we took turns manning the hula hoop booth, and following Jake/Luke around.  Field Day was an all morning event consisting of over 30 stations!  Jake spent his entire morning this his bff, Tanner.  The kids were allowed to go to any station, in any order, and these boys methodically went through every station IN ORDER!  I checked off hundreds of kids' checklist and only a few did them in order.  Here's to 2 rule following, sweet, innocent, adorable kindergartners!
I captured just a few of the stations.  The 2-legged race...

 Sack race...
Even Luke got in on the fun for this one...
After completing at least 15 stations, the kids could enjoy a Popsicle...
 Tug-o-war...
I have to commend the PE teachers, because this was quite the field day!  There was so much to do!  Jake had a blast and was definitely worn out from all his fun and hard work!

All Star game

Jake's t-ball league hosted all star games for each age level.  His coach asked all the Red Sox players to choose 4 players they felt worked hard and did well to represent them in the special game.  Jake was one of the players selected to play!  Our all-star team consisted of Stratty, Joaquin, Savian, Jake, and 6 other players from 2 different teams.  Their team won, and we had a great time watching these boys play and have fun!

Camping!

Last month we went camping at Blanco State Park with our care group and had a great time!  Leading up to the trip, we were nervous about the weather, and I was checking the forecast every hour Friday afternoon as we prepared to head out.  Luckily, the rain chance decreased and was pushed back, so we packed up and headed out, and took a risk.  The risk was well worth it.  Luke was a big fan of the camping fun...
Sean Paul caught a fish and here's Luke checking it out...
It did rain, but only for about 30 minutes at 4 am.  Kevin and I both woke up to the rain and some thunder, but the boys slept through the entire event.  We woke to blue skies and a wonderful temperature, so it did work out really great.  The rain did leave a little mud in places.  Here are the boys playing with the mud...

TWO!!!

Luke turned 2 on April 13.  We celebrated with cupcakes at home with just the 4 of us, and I think Luke loved the attention.  We also had a special dinner with some of Luke's favorite foods.  It was mostly breakfast foods b/c he loves scrambled eggs, bacon, and strawberries, but I also threw hotdogs in the mix b/c he loves them and we rarely eat them.  It wasn't the greatest meal in my eyes, but Luke was in heaven.  Here's some pics from his birthday...
Luke loves dogs, so I did my best to make doggie cupcakes...

Awaiting his cupcake...

After we had our treats at home, we walked to a few of our neighbors to deliver cupcakes and spread birthday cheer...
Here's some things about Luke at age 2:
**For the longest time, he wasn't interested in TV, but in the last several months, he's grown to LOVE it.  It all started with Paw Patrol, and he wouldn't really watch much other than the "puppies."  Now he also loves Bubble Guppies and Dora.  He's also watched a few movies, but starts wandering around about 45 minutes in.
**He's very good at saying "thank you."  I actually probably remind Jake to say thank you more than Luke at this moment
**He loves to help me put the food on the conveyor belt at the grocery store.  I scoot him as close as possible, then set small and light things next to his seat so he can be my helper.
**When he's disobeying, one thing I'll say to him is "Luke, you need to be nice, please."  He will respond by saying, " No thank you, please, Mommy, no thank you, Mommy, please."  He may still be disobeying, but his word choice is definitely nicer.
**He's definitely more of a Mommy's boy than Jake ever was.  From a young age, Jake loved to play outside with Daddy.  When the weather is nice, and I'm cooking dinner, it was great for them to go outside to play so I can get dinner ready.  Luke is not quite the same.  He'll go outside with them, then after 5 minutes, he comes right back inside trying to get me to join them.  If I can't join them, he often just stays inside instead of playing with the boys.
*He resists getting dressed and diaper changes the majority of the time.
*He loves to sing
*He's super silly and super affectionate
*He loves to play with Jake and will follow and copy Jake.  Their play is getting better and more engaged with each other day by day.  It's beautiful to me!
*He is still a BIG boy, although he is thinning out some.  His stats from his 2 year appointment are 32 pounds (90th%) and 34.75 inches (60th %).  As a comparison, Jake weighed 28 pounds and was 34.5 inches at age 2.

Thinkery

Our good friends, Kim and Joshua, invited us to go to the Thinkery with them and Luke had a BLAST!!!  He loves everything about that place.  We didn't even go into all the rooms b/c the boys were so content in the areas we were in.  Luke was all about the grocery shopping/cooking area...

There is a toddler area with lots of gym mats to tumble around on, and it was also a hit
The boys were still young enough to go into the baby area, and Luke loved crawling in the tunnel there...
Of course, water is a hit, both inside....
 and out...
